The Facts
As reported in the Wall Street Journal and elsewhere, “the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD) has been involved in funding left-leaning organizations and activities from its earliest years”. Most people are already aware that the CCHD gave millions of dollars to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) before finally “pulling the plug” on this scandal ridden organization.
Many people are unaware, however, that the CCHD continues to fund similar “community organizing” entities to this day.
Los Angeles Community Action Network (LA CAN) Funded by the CCHD for the past five years. LA CAN works to support same-sex marriage and promotes access to emergency contraception and “family planning”.
The Rebecca Project for Human Rights Funded by the CCHD for more than four years, this organization and its founder have gone on record in support of abortion.
Women’s Community Revitalization Project Funded by the CCHD for the last several years, this organization actively partners with pro-abortion groups for the purpose of promoting increased access to abortion.
These current CCHD grantees actively pushed for the health care reform bill recently passed by Congress without qualifying that health care reform should not include federal funding for abortion or contraception:
